submissions
PopPolitics launched in 2000 as an online magazine covering the intersections between pop culture and politics. In 2004, PopPolitics started publishing chiefly as a blog, but we once again welcome longer-form articles and other submissions.
Articles: Writers interested in contributing essays, news articles and reviews should e-mail editor AT PopPolitics.com.
Please use the term “query” in the subject heading and include a short bio, contact information and samples of previously published work. Academic papers are welcomed, but should be re-written with a general audience in mind. No jargon, thanks.
Art: If you are interested in submitting photography, cartoons or other works of art, please e-mail us with your ideas and examples of your work.
Some general guidelines: Ability to write for an intelligent, culturally engaged audience is a must. Writers should have an interest in and knowledge of popular culture, and should be able to discuss their subjects within a broad cultural context. In other words, reviews should offer more than a thumbs up or thumbs down critique.
